LETTER FROM MAYOR MARC D. CITRIN
June 6th, 2025

Dear Neighbors,

It has been a privilege to serve as your Mayor for the past 22 months. With the Village election date of June 17 approaching, I am writing to you to seek your support in my bid for re-election.

Since I took office in September 2023, I have been working hard, together with the Board of Trustees, to improve Village services and make Tuxedo Park even better. As such, I am pleased to provide you with a list of some of the accomplishments of my administration. These include:

-A Landscaper Licensing Law was enacted which requires annual registration of all landscaping companies that work in the Village. As part of the registration process, the owner of a company must agree to abide by all relevant provisions of the Village Code including a list of prohibited chemicals, or face suspension or revocation of their license.

-Re-enactment of the lapsed Fence Law to prohibit perimeter fences to assure that the open vistas between properties remains a significant attribute of Tuxedo Park.

-Reduction of the Village speed limit to 25 mph to increase safety on Village roads for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists.

-Transferred operation of the Village elections to the Orange County Board of Elections to avoid a repeat of the controversies created during the 2023 mayoral election.

-Led a public-private partnership to build a “first-class” playground at the Wee Wah Park in Summer 2025.

-Negotiated the donation of 4 acres of land at the South Gate to preserve Open Space at the Village’s south entrance.

-Created a Capital Planning Committee which has worked hard to inventory and prioritize major infrastructure improvements needed in the Village and fund the same through municipal bonds.

-Hired Allen Faust as “hands-on” Police Chief, who is available to assist residents seven days a week.

-Kept the increases in Village taxes to a minimum with no increase in 2024-25 and 1.9% in 2025-26.

-Improved residents’ access to Village government by allowing public comments on any subject both at the beginning and end of Board of Trustees meetings and holding Mayor’s office hour at Village Hall every Thursday evening from 6-7pm.

-Sending a monthly “Mayor’s Message” to all residents to provide updates on Village issues.

-Finally, as promised in my 2023 campaign, I presented a no-cost proposal from Verizon Wireless to construct a cell tower to improve cell service in the Village. The proposal was strenuously discussed by Village residents. The Board of Trustees ultimately voted not to proceed with the project and it was agreed that the issue of improving cell service will await more advanced technology.

Looking to the future, if I am re-elected, I will continue to focus on identifying and addressing the needed infrastructure improvements; enhance road safety and Village security; preserve Open Space in the Village; protect property values by maintaining the natural beauty and historic architecture of the Village; continue to safeguard our Lakes and drinking water through vigilance and expert consultations; maintain transparency in Village government and give voice to all residents and their concerns.

Last, I would like to thank the hardworking staff at Village Hall, the DPW, the Tuxedo PD, the Tuxedo VFD, the Tuxedo VAC and all of the volunteer Board and Committee members for their tireless efforts on behalf of our Community.

For all of the above, I respectfully ask you for your vote on June 17, 2025 at Village Hall from 6am-9pm.

Thank you.

Marc
